It's A Small World, Or Is It? Isn't it great when all the rich and successful people start writing books telling us not to "sweat the small stuff" or "Take your Life Into Your Own Hands".. They fill up talk stations and interview shows with their holistic views "If I can Do It..Anyone Can.." Reba McEntire was giving an in-depth interview with Ryan Seacrest during his new stellar and original talk show... when asked if she had any words of advice to give young talent, she replied: "Just go out there and have fun. Don't make yourself all nervous, enjoy what you do..." (paraphrasing) Awesome advice Reba.. so you mean to tell me when you were broke and hungry going in for your first audition you were having fun? You weren't at all nervous? It's an easy thing to do when sitting in your Ivory Tower advising people to have fun or not to sweat the small stuff.. but let's be honest. EVERYONE sweats the small stuff when all they have is small. We live in a relative world, so to tell people what they should and shouldn't be worrying about is pretty phucking arrogant - especially when you're wearing $2000 Gucci shoes. Sure there are some success stories that inspire us.. and they need to be heard.. but to slap us in the face with "don't worry so much" as you are sipping your flute of Crystal adoring your multi-platinum albums... is arrogantly wrong. So the bar maid busting her ass 6 nights a week trying to get a record deal shouldn't worry so much? She should really be having fun..? Tell me Reba, Dr. Carlson, Dr. Phil.. Oprah.. Deepak.. tell me how to live a peaceful life when I have to worry about my not car making it to work the next morning.. tell me again how to enjoy life when I can't afford medical treatment for my kids.. why not send one of your housekeepers over to help me dab my sweat. (actually it's a really good book) CommentsThere are no comments on this item. |
