Movie Review

Thursday April 16th, 2009
Based of the 2003 British version, State of Play starring Russell Crowe is a pretty tight thriller (yes, please excuse this crappy review as Dr.Tom couldn't make it).   Anyway, it's certainly a good movie with few sleepy parts (if any) and thankfully no kissy, goo-goo bullshit either.

Crowe plays your old fashion reporter (Washington Globe) who teams up with Rachel McAdams (the new online blogger) to help solve a murder that is somehow tied into his friend, Congressman Collins (Ben Affleck).  Who actually does a pretty decent job, but you still can't help wanting to slap that cheesy smirk of his face.  I digress.

As a sideline, the movie does a great job illustrating the importance of having both print and online media.  One can't help but feel a twinge of sadness knowing that one day, News print will go the way of the dodo bird.

Anyway, apparently Javier Bardem was busy or something, because the psycho that's doing all the killing looks and kinda acts like Anton Chigurh from 'No Country'.

Needless to say, Crowe always delivers and Jason Bateman offers some great comic relief.  Go check it out, it's gotta be a phuck-load better than Fast and Furious?!
