Bisping made a name for himself in the UK-based Cage Rage circuit, vaulting to the promotion's light heavyweight title in 2004.

From there, he earned a spot on the UFC's The Ultimate Fighter reality television series.  Bisping took full advantage of the worldwide exposure, becoming the second light heavyweight to "win" the coveted series.

In the second half of 2007, Bisping faced some of is stiffest competition, first winning a controversial split decision over fellow Ultimate Fighter alum Matt Hamill (at UFC 75) and then finally suffering his first professional loss in a hard-fought split decision defeat to Rashad Evans at UFC 78.

Soon after the Evans loss, Bisping announced that he would be dropping down to the UFC's competitive middleweight ranks for future bouts.

Trivia:  Bisping is the grandson of a Polish count, hence the nickname.  Bisping has quite the working-class following in his native England, where during a prolonged absence from fighting during his early 20s, he labored as a postman, demolition worker and an insurance salesman to pay the bills.
