Was it any doubt that GSP was going to kill Matt Serra tonight (April 19th, 2008).  Maybe he can lace up for Monday's death match against Boston.

He took Serra to the canvass in the first seconds of the first round, and punished him for most of the five minutes, leaving him with a blackened left eye. The second round featured more of the same, with St. Pierre on top of Serra, pounding his head and kneeing him in the side until referee Yves Lavigne was forced to intervene, stopping the fight, and awarding St. Pierre the organization's championship belt.

"Before I say anything, I want to say something to my friends in Montreal," St. Pierre said from the ring. "This is the most beautiful day of my life."

Congrats to GSP for man handling Matt Hughes last night (Dec.29 2007) to become the UFC middleweight champ.  However he Acknowledged that until he beats Matt Serra (who had to forfeit his match due to illness) he doesn't consider himself the title holder.  Classy, George.  Good stuff. 

An incredible two-year run saw the French Canadian capture the UFC welterweight belt while defeating the likes of Jason Miller, Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk, B.J. Penn and Matt Hughes.

No one gave Matt Serra a chance of beating GSP when the two met in April, yet Serra blasted out the champ to take the coveted UFC crown. St. Pierre got back on track at UFC 74 with a resounding decision win over Josh Koscheck, and he's one Serra misstep away from standing alone at the top.
