The second cut may not hurt as bad because your survival instincts won't let you fall as far, but the scar tissue the second time around certainly takes longer to heal. 

Before you know it, you're back in love for the second time and for the second time your heart breaks.  And this time it may not hurt as bad, but the hurt lingers longer.  Which is better?  

Maybe it's because you feel like a sucker.  You had promised yourself that you'd never let yourself trip that hard again, but can you really help it?  If you find the one girl/guy that you want to spend the rest of your life with, it's kind of hard to stop 'it'.

You go over the relationship in your head a thousand times.  But now you don't remember if all those 'good times' you had were in your head, or if they really happened.  All you know is that for whatever reason it didn't work and it could never ever be the same again, so you're left with the only solution; forget it.  When you find yourself drifting in thoughts, remind yourself why it didn't work out the first time. 

What worries you the most at this point, is if you'll ever find another exciting relationship again. Then you realize that part of the excitement was not knowing if s/he was going to cancel a date, you realize that the excitement you felt wasn't really healthy at all.  You were always doing back flips to keep them entertained. 

So what next, you settle for nice stable, mature relationship... YAWN!! Bring your pillow along for a nap.  You hate 'settle' it's a negative word that implies that you're going to put up with whatever comes your way.  But why else do they call it, 'Settling down' ? 

In the end, you do settle.  You settle for the less exciting, road more traveled - because you can't always get what you want and somehow you seem settle for what you need.  And you only find out what you need when the things you want break your phucking heart!!
